I'm upset that Magma and MDK lost in the tourney, so I've put them up against one of my personal favorite bands Caravan(I like them better than Camel always have). I don't even know who I'm going to vote for in this, I'll wait and see how the votes go first. These are two heavyweights imo who don't get nearly enough respect on here.

Those two groups are so radically different. Apples and oranges. I don't see the point in voting one extreme vs. the other. Now if they were closer to each other (apples and apples), that'd be different.

Two random guys agreed to shake hands. Just Because. They felt like it, you know. It was an agreement of sorts...a random agreement.

I love their best material about as much (both have some killer stuff) but Caravan also have a big collection of petty flimsy songs in which I have no interest. Magma on the other hand sure have had better and weaker days, but I always found them interesting and appealing, so...

Tough call. I'd rather vote in a poll where it was album versus album because Magma has a bigger discography and so lots more 4 and 5 star albums for me. Based on that I'd pick Magma but then there's "If I Could Do It All Over Again..." and "In The Land Of Grey And Pink" two absolute killer Canterbury albums.

Caravan. I've always prefer the more melodica type of music. Not that Magma is not good, but Caravan are a better band and more appealing to my taste.

While I admire Magma, Caravan is by a country mile more often found on my playlist than Magma. Caravan...

When I love Caravan I really love Caravan (If I Could..., Land Of Grey ...) but Magma have the much better body of material, and are much better live, so Magma.

Wow, happy to see this one so close. I still haven't voted yet, been a huge fan of Caravan for a long time now(they're literally one of my absolute favorite bands in any genre). But Magma.. ok I'm obsessed with MDK, and many of their other albums I'm starting to really like as well. I don't.. this is strength vs strength here to me.

Exactly this. Magma just sounds like pretentious s*** to me, with their vocals in a silly made up language. Caravan are also very funny. How they got away with playing "The dog, the dog, he's at it again" on the BBC, I do not know. The lyrics are blatantly sexual.

Love Caravan at their best but Magma all the way. There's nothing quite like it. Also the latter band is funnier than given credit for. Actually funnier than Caravan I'd say - who's often inane lyrics mainly gets a pass because of their unpretentious charm and whimsy.

Very, very close but I went with Magma based on longevity and consistency.
