THE LAZE return with new album CRYPTIC PLUMAGE...

Cryptic Plumage
is a sonic collection of alternative histories and re-imagined realities.  Disparate and absurd, pompous and over-blown, it is inane maximalism for the age of zero attention span.  The Laze look backwards and forwards simultaneously and end up cross-eyed.

TRACKS...

Polygone is an illustrated children's book from 1972 about a shape that can't settle on how many sides it has.

Totally Sirius refers to an ancient Egyptian barbecue which summons a portal to an alternative dimension when the hot dogs were cooked correctly.

Brave, The Petrified Forest is about a petrified forest called Brave who, during the Pleistocene epoch, protected the coast line of the Wirral from fearsome Hippopotamus and Crocodile.

Stone Hive questions whether the architecture and technology that humans have created and reside within constitutes a holobiont.

Rainbow Amoeba puts a name on those little translucent creatures that live in your eyes and run away every time you try to say hello.

Roman Hogs tells the story of when Caligula's horse, Incitatus, was appointed high priest and consul and then proceeded to order flaming pigs to be released into the homes of Patricians.

Scaffolds is what happens when you design and build a house with your friends but you need some structural support and a really long guitar solo.

The Laze are an indecisive and self-indulgent 7 piece rock band from Merseyside.  Originally formed in 2001, they have mutated through many shapes and sizes but ended up as a prog rock juggernaut in 2008 with their self-released Sci-Fi concept album Spacetime Fabric Conditioner.  This was supported by gigs around the UK with the likes of Upsilon Acrux, Chrome Hoof & Trans Am.  SFC was followed by a period of horror soundtrack obsession, when the band were commissioned to write an original soundtrack for the 1925 silent horror The Phantom Of The Opera.  This concluded with 2 sold-out tours performing the soundtrack live to the film in cinemas across the UK along with a recorded version released in 2014 with One Way Static.  Now in 2018 with Cryptic Plumage the band reconvene and revisit all eras of their protracted career and mash them together indiscriminately.

The Laze are...

G. Hitchmough - Drums
R. Hurst - Strings, Synths & Production
P. Jones - Guitars
D. Perry - Bass, Synths & Vocals
J. Roberts - Piano & Synths
R. Wilkinson - Guitars
G. Wyn Jones - Saxophones

Thanks for posting about this album. Loved their take on the Phantom score. Streaming this new effort now - sounds great...
He neither drank, smoked, nor rode a bicycle. Living frugally, saving his money, he died early, surrounded by greedy relatives. It was a great lesson to me -- John Barrymore
