Easy vote for the Chiefs. Saw them live four years ago ... here in Calgary, they were the first and probably last avant-prog band I've seen come through the city. There were maybe 45 people in the audience. They put on a killer show, and I stuck around until the very end because I knew they would probably never be back. Toby Driver was playing bass with them, which was cool. I bumped into a cousin of mine there who's also into weird music, but she was there to see the opener (a band called Cleric) which I didn't dig quite as much.
I've never connected with Guapo on the same level as others, I play them from time to time and they're good but not great to my ears. Same with Volapuk. I'm learning from these polls that even UZ (who are my favorite of the original brand of RIO/AP), I'm much more into the modern bands in the genre...
