Must be the first time I've seen Art Zoyd way ahead of the rest in a poll - and i like it! Maybe they aren't "underrated" but they're sure as hell underappreciated. I mean they album-debuted a year before UZ and their discography is pretty much faultless for at least a decade + they never stopped producing uniquely uncompromising art. Aranis and Akineton Retard are great as well. I'll admit I can't remember much about OOIOO. But not long ago I relistened to Naked City and as a musical expression I don't think it has aged well... or maybe its me (that hasn't aged well)? Could be. Perhaps Jazz Snob: Eat sh*t is about someone like myself... but why should I care? I'll just get my pipe, slippers (+maybe some fine single malt) and spin my vintage Blue Note/Impulse&ESP-records instead - and leave this crap to those who enjoy alternating between grindcore-cartoon-noise-with-dog-barks and generic soundtrack-like jazz or whatever. Hah!

Akineton Retard. AZ clearly don't need my help, and AR are one of my favourites of this century.

poor Aranis... deserved better.. perhaps if more had seen them live. That is when they clicked for me.. a real experience.  A sympathetic parting gift for them with my vote

I vote for Aranis, with a 3-way tie for second Aranis go through on tiebreaker based on # of ratings.

Art Zoyd (10) Aranis (5)

I like Aranis and happy to see them advance but imo it would be more logical and fair to give it to the band with hte least amount of ratings.

Btw: Akineton Retard has more than 20 in total - Akranania alone has 40... or am I musunderstanding your use of numbers here?

That's an error on my part, must have been tired when I got to them and I only saw the live album. I'm using # of studio album ratings as the tiebreaker as it's a reasonable measure of popularity on the site. Least amount of ratings is hardly a good reason to advance in a tie. The ratings averages are generally very close together.

Akineton Retard should have read 144 ratings with a 4.07 average.
