Finally Richard Thompson has made the cover of Guitar Player Magazine, 50 years into his career.

If he had gone by the moniker Dastardly Dick Thompson he may have made it on the cover sooner.

Richard Thompson is not the greatest of names for worshiping as a guitar hero!

Even though he is (to me anyway)...a guitar hero that is.

Surprising, I would have thought the majority of serious guitar players would recognise him as a major talent.

I only know him from the French, Frith, Kaiser, Thompson record I own, and his songs are the ones I like most. I guess that’s worth something....??

I'm sure most serious guitarists of at least a certain age do know of and appreciate him, the cover of a magazine is a different animal.  Just good to see him recognized in this way in a place that, surprisingly, hadn't done so before.
Late husband used to say,"How many times can they put Joe Bonamassa on the cover?"

The two FFKT albums are delightful, but if you want an example of RT in guitar hero mood this is a great example:

I love all of this record, actually, but this is one of my favourites for the solo.
