Normally I would vote for Rush over KC 90% of the time but Schizoid is my favorite KC song so that gets my vote today.

KC's 21st was arguably the first fully-fledged prog-rock song and 50 years later it still holds up as an amazing piece of music. Enough said.

Cygnus X-1 is my fave song on A Farewell to Kings but no way could it beat Schizoid Man for me...

Schizoid...

He neither drank, smoked, nor rode a bicycle. Living frugally, saving his money, he died early, surrounded by greedy relatives. It was a great lesson to me -- John Barrymore

Great choice, two very comparable cuts. Rush. |

Rush is not even in King Crimson's league. King Crimson by a mile.

In my opinion, with all due respect to Rush (which perhaps in Europe are less considered than in America), for me KC are of another category. In particular, the first song by KC is, for the prog, how to talk about the painting "Impression, soleil levant" by Monet, which gave life to Impressionism, while Cygnus X-1 is like talking about the painting of one of the many disciples of Impressionism, for example Seurat, advocate of pointillisme. Clever but do you want to put his paintings with those of Monet?

Rush.
Love Schizoid man, and it's a more 'important' song in the prog rock world, but I simply prefer the Rush song. |

Ultimately bored by endless ecstasy!
