I love the two obvious choices to pieces but gave my vote to Pow R Toc H, that nice little source of so much joy.

The ‘Middle Eastern’ sounding organ solo ! I wish it went for longer. To my (limited) knowledge, he’s playing notes in a Phrygian mode, as opposed to Pentatonic (usual Blues scale).

Interstellar was the best thing they did before Echoes came along.

The Ummagumma version is way better.

Indeed. Actually, I don't know which would be my favourite version, if the Ummagumma one, or the Pulse one. Ummagumma is longer and more atmospheric, with some very beautiful parts. But the Pulse one is sort of more powerful, with stronger guitars and more polished.

definitely "Ummagumma". I gave "P.U.L.S.E." a 1-star rating; here is my review of it:

1 stars
One of the very worst live albums there are; absolutely bloodless. Just listening to that trio of female background singers
alone makes me cringe, especially when all three of them are needed to sing Claire Torry's outburst from "Dark side of the
Moon" NOTE FOR NOTE! How fantastic this could have been if just one female singer went on overdrive like Torry did and
improvised her heart out. Instead they stick to the Torry performance note for note and divide the part onto three, so all
can have a go. I don't need a band who try to reproduce their studio sound live. What I want from a band that plays live is
showing a live spirit, but Pink Floyd here behave as if they are in the studio. There was a time when they were a good live
band; just listen to the live parts of "Ummagumma". But this album makes me stick my fingers into my ears.

Oh well, I do love PULSE. I mean, bands don't always have to twist their songs all around to make a good live album, and just because they didn't do one song as astonishing as one might want will it destroy the whole value of the performance. Pink Floyd usually has done great with their live presentations as far as I'm concerned, either at the beginning when they would experiment and jam and rework their songs, making them much greater, or later on when they would be more faithful, but then they would make a few changes, make some things heavier, or updated a bit, still often enough there will be stuff that sounds better than the original studio ones.

2 good tracks on a pretty sh*te album lol
All I like is prog related bands beginning late 60's/early 70's. Their music from 1968 - 83 has the composition and sound which will never be beaten. Perfect blend of jazz, classical, folk and rock.
