I don't have the words for how good TYA is. That said, it's probably gonna be Red. |

I find it hard to understand that almost half of those who voted for either one prefers The Yes Album over Red - but I find 98,5% of mankind hard to understand.

^ I'm guessing because you're looking at it from a standpoint of creativity & innovation which Red embodied (especially at the time). Whereas if you look at The Yes Album as a rock record along side Meddle, Tarkus, and Aqualung, it is equally powerful. |

Never really thought starless was that good. Nice intro but once the vocals come in it’s just a solid track after that. Title track is the highlight. Nothing on this album comes close to trooper or disgrace

All I like is prog related bands beginning late 60's/early 70's. Their music from 1968 - 83 has the composition and sound which will never be beaten. Perfect blend of jazz, classical, folk and rock.

Two top albums, and a bit unfair. Both are excellent. Saying this, I voted for Red (my fav Crimson), as TYA is second (in my books) to Close to the Edge.

The Yes Album has never been that high on my list of the classic era Yes projects, whereas "Starless," just on its own, is clearly--by all objective standards--the greatest piece of music ever written by human beings.

I voted both but if you pressed me I would probably go with Yes.....that album holds a lot of memories and sentimental feeling with me and if I had to play one over and over I would enjoy the Yes album longer over time.

Red is the pinnacle of KC while The Yes Album is just the start in the rise to greatness. (IMO)

Well although I voted for Red and partly agree , I do think that The Yes Album is one of their best perhaps only bettered by Fragile, Close To The Edge and Relayer. I'd probably tie it with Drama after those 3 so it's well up there imo. I just wish they could have found something better than A Venture to finish the album and the inclusion of a random live track ( The Clap) also jars a little but Starship Trooper , Yours is No Disgrace and I've Seen All Good People are undoubtedly solid gold prog tracks.
