So, two legendary players whom have dazzled young players with a varied, open and ever developing sound. They take influence from blues, jazz, and othet places and with playfull attitude, inspire people to pick up the instrument.
But whos your favourite player. |

As a guitarist Beck blows practically everyone else out of the water. Pity he's not always had the material to back up his talent.

Beck is great but I don't think he blows the following guitarists out of the water: Allan Holdsworth Steve Morse Alex Lifeson Alex Machacek Guthrie Govan Frank Zappa Mike Keneally |

But doesn't that miss point of Jeff Beck? Most of those players are what I would call 'surface' players, but Beck was a deep player who did pyrotechnic expression and took sonic adventures before it was cool. If it was ever cool. |

I actually prefer Peter Frampton on guitar. I'm not saying who's better, just that I prefer Frampton's style of play.

I appreciated Frampton's simple, clean style and he certainly was an underrated player, but good luck matching him and Beck. There is no comparison, their approaches are very different.
A good comparison to Framp? I'd say maybe Mark Knopfler, though Knopfler is far more accomplished. |

Beck .....easily , ...but I like Framptons work with Humble Pie.
To me Frampton is a solid rock player who came up with some nice melodies......in the same area as Mick Ralphs, Joe Walsh, Buck Dharma Roeser, maybe even Trower as someone said above. Edited by dr wu23 - October 17 2019 at 11:52 |
