American drummer and percussionist.
His album Flight Never Ending from 1976 is 100% fusion with big number of elements and rich arrangements, something like more latin Mahavishnu (I'm thinking about rocking jazz-rock dynamism) with more space synths.
There' are also assosiations with Al Di Meola's works in overall sound.

Mingo Lewis was also in bands: Return to Forever (short time, only in 1973), he worked with Santana/Carlos Santana (Caravanserai, Love Devotion Surrender and more) and was long-time percussionist on Al di Meola's albums (Land Of The Midnight Sun, Elegant Gypsy, Casino and more).
During his cooperation with Al di Meola he wasn't only a percussionist, but he was also author/composer of tracks: "The Wizard", "Flight over Rio", "Chasin' the voodoo" (according to discogs) and hist contribution is generally audible.

In short, a lot of happen on every second of this album.
("Visions of another time" has even more layers of space synths, "Trapezoid" tends to Herbie Hancock style and last title-track has most deep, even epic space feel)
Overally great, very energetic album!

He was mentioned here:
