There was Bakerloo, there was Spring - both of them bring to mind war/militaristic topics and now after all this years here comes the Mighty Armada! UK Band from London active from 1970, in 1972-1974 they recorded these tracks, released first time in 2011. Very interesting with flute, saxophone and creative guitar. Similar a bit to proposed before Canadian Heat Exchange, only with less audible keyboards and classical influences. It's even difficult to chose best moments (for example fragments starting at 8:15 and 14:20) - band is almost a lost classic. Beyond the Morning 2011 full album: 1. Beyond the Morning #1 (6:59) 2. Fortunes Fool (5:54) 3. Sad Song (4:10) 4. Beyond the Morning #2 (8:21) 5. Mockingbird (3:57) 6. One in Ten (5:51) 7. Highway Girl (3:32) 8. Jester (12:07) 9. Obsessions (3:57) 10. Dragon Child (2:40) 11. Sail Away (4:09) 12. Steeplechase (Live) (10:28) Total length: 72:05 Sammy Rimington acoustic guitar, electric guitar, saxophone, clarinet, flute Terry Cooke vocals, flute, bongos Geoff Skates lead guitar, rhythm guitar Alan Wickett drums, xylophone Brian Stanley bass Colin Ellar bass John Donaldson keyboards

I hear some sentiment concerning Jethro Tull, Embryo, Family, Keef Hartley Band in between
I'd say early prog considering the original release in1971 not sure yet which category fits best, jazz/fusion seems the nearest |

I felt something like that (with more rock fusion then jazz). It also brings to mind Raw Material - Time Was.
Thanks for Keef Hartley Band - I didn't know them and it would be good to remember Family. |
