A blog for posting your favourite songs, albums & concerts from the movies, or simply just to talk about movie music generally and list your favourite soundtracks. What better way to open this thread than the movie music maestro himself, Ennio Morricone, conducting the orchestra in Concerto Arena 2002. Ennio Morricone is renowned for being the most prolific composer of movie scores of all time, with well over 500 soundtracks to his credit!

Hi,
Not sure how it fits ... Bernard Herrman ... but I am not sure that a lot of his music was actually "performed" outside on the concert halls, except that a lot of his Sci-Fi stuff fit a lot better in there, than most of the music he did for Alfred Hitchcock (in my book!!!). Maurice Jarre ... has had many concerts and his music done in Europe. He was also known very well as a conductor. Michel Legrande ... composer, conductor and very prolific musician all around that also moonlighted in jazz. John Barry ... composer and conductor of a lot of music. Probably better known for his James Bond soundtracks. Alex North ... had something like 14 nominations for an Oscar and only finally got an Honorary Award for all the great music he did for so many well known films. Francis Lai ... mostly noticed for his music by one soundtrack, but his listing is insane! John Williams ... very well known composer and conductor, that has received many awards and accolades in his time.

Music is not just for listening ... it is for LIVING ... you got to feel it to know what's it about! Not being told!

I like all of those movie score composers you mentioned and many more besides, including Philip Glass, Jerry Goldsmith, Howard Shore, Alan Silvestri, Vangelis, Hans Zimmer, & James Horner, to name just a few.
