Soy Chileno tengo 25 y soy adicto a la musica, actualmente estoy escuchando

opeth- Blacwater park

Anathema- Natural disaster

Porcupine tree- in absentia

tool- lateralus

Sigur ros

Bjork- Medulla

I understand your feelings, Pozo. You are right, Los Jaivas deserve a place in the top 100 list of best prog albums, at least regarding their prog masterpiece 'Alturas de Macchu Picchu'. But the list on the home page is based on the numbers of reviews of albums listed in this site, and Los Jaivas are less known by people who listen to prog than the first wave of prog bands (ELP, Genesis, PF, KC...) and the current leaders of the prog scene (Spock's Beard, Echolyn, TFK, DT...). They entered the world of prog with their fifth album in 1975, and the prog community was interested in this band only after the release of 'Alturas de Macchu Picchu'. I discovered recently their earlier work and it is really good andean folk music, far from the prog works they delivered in 'Alturas de Macchu Picchu' and 'Obras de Violetta Parra' but very enjoying. Los Jaivas are not a typical prog band because they evolved as a folk band and even after the release of 'Alturas de Macchu Picchu' they returned to their folk roots with 'Aconcagua'. The fact that their music is more akined to folk than prog explains the indifference of die hard prog fans to their music.

"Magma was the very first gothic rock band" (Didier Lockwood)

los jaivas is an absolutely incredible ensemble, with the releases from 1975 - 1984 clearly some of the best from anytime, anywhere. in addition to 'alturas...', the s/t 1975/6 release, nicknamed 'el indio' is even more stunning, particularly the prog hook song 'tarka y ocarina'.

one of my very favorites....
