Obviously these are the only surviving or remaining band members in their respective bands(although in at least one case the proper band isn't currently active(cough cough Jethro cough cough...Tull). For other please make sure the band had at least five lineup changes(if possible) and member must be the only one on all albums(the reason Peter Hammill wasn't included even though was technically the only original member on all albums(Guy Evans was on all albums but not there from the very beginning).

For various reasons I have not included the following honorable mentions:

Chris Squire

Mike and Tony

Dirk and Lerxst

Daevid Allen

Peter Hammill

Roye Albrighton

Edgar Froese

Steven Wilson

Robert Fripp is a god on what he does, but Andy Latimer's charisma, nobleness, and resilience captured my vote.

I would have voted Jon Anderson in preference to Ian Anderson, but seeing as he's not included, I've gone for Andy Latimer of Camel instead. Smile

There's too many Yes albums that Jon wasn't on. To be eligible a band member has to have been on all of their albums.

Going for Fripp, although I am equally a Tull fan.  But I think that Fripp really changed the musical landscape in another kind of way that broke more rules and it is even more a clear line from start to still continuing musical works, at least to my ears, with the vision growing and morphing, reinventing itself.  Both have been pretty firm leaders, both are really the personification of the bands that they formed.

Fripp...for many reasons, intelligence, innovation , Frippertronics, keeping KC going for so long,  etc..

Many great ones to pick and choose. Andy Latimer, Mick Box, Robert Fripp, Ian Anderson, etc. All fantastic and dedicated musicians. it will take me a while to decide.

Ian Anderson always entertaining. Singing, leaping, playing flute, etc. No one had that kind of bizarre energy.

Thijs van Leer still plays with the Focus drummer Pierre van der Linden of the classic seventies line-up. Voted for Christian Vander, because he really pretty much is Magma.
I'm guitarist and songwriter for the prog-related band Mother Bass. Find us at http://www.motherbass.com. I also enter stages throughout the Netherlands performing my poetry.

That's true but so what. He was not the original drummer for the band. Thijis van Leer has been there from the beginning and is on every album and that's why he's on the list(along with the others).
