Dead Can Dance come from a land Down Under, Traveling in a fried-out Kombi, On a hippie trail, head full of zombie. Smile

Correction:- Only one half of Dead Can Dance - Lisa Gerrard - comes from a land Down Under. Wink

Brendan is a Londoner.
Dying Sun for me. I can't stand their ethno-world albums.

Thanks for the info. I'd always assumed Brendan Perry and Lisa Gerrard were both from Australia originally as they're listed as an Aussie band on ProgArchives. I just discovered today that Brendan is the same age as me, so that's two things I learned about Dead Can Dance already today, and it's not even midday yet.  Smile

:)
I suppose it depends if you determine a band's nationality by one or more of its members or by where they live and are active.

I wasn't so keen on their first self-titled album, but I'll give  Within the Realm of a Dying Sun another listen tomorrow. Smile

I don't remember when was the last time i listened to an album from DCD, that long ago. I wouldn't even know where to (re)start if i wanted to listen to them again.

Dying Sun.....then Spleen and Ideal ,,,then Aion....but they are all decent imho.
But as was mentioned the later ones do have a lot of world music influence.

It's a long time since I've listened to Dead Can Dance's albums too, so I'm currently listening to them all again on YouTube before I cast my vote. Smile

Aion hands down favourite for me, but I do love them all.

I'm looking forward to hearing the Aion for the first time on Sunday. Smile

I was surprised to find Dead Can Dance in the Prog Folk section of ProgArchives. I never thought of Dead Can Dance as a Prog Folk band before. Smile

"Into the Labyrinth" closely followed by "Spiritchaser" and "Aion" for me.  Though I pretty much love all of them.

No vote for me. As much as I tried, I could never get into their music.

Toward the Within.  Not just their best album IMHO but a great live album.

You could start with Within the Realm of a Dying Sun. I listened to the album again today for the first time in a long time and I'd forgotten just how good it is. I'm not going to vote for that album yet though because I still have another seven Dead Can Dance albums to listen to again before I cast my vote.  Smile
