Anyone recognize who this artist could be?

https://youtu.be/zSNXojXcRC0?t=55

Sounds like Ophiucus, Louis Chedid something along those lines?

My shazam app says it's Light Sounds dark. I think that's just the name of the song though.

It's from a sampler called Alien Galaxy Builder by Light Sounds Dark Lable.

the lable doesn't seem to know the Artist. The Artists that are named on the sampler
I've never heared about in my life. Very obscure.

I like the track it has some very happy Zeuhl drive.

No idea either, but I like it.

Very similar in style to SLOCHE.

Cool track. I like it a lot. Have no idea who it is, and neither does the label who put it out. Unfortunate.

Thanks for replies. I'll keep checking through Zeuhl tracks to try find this.

Any French speaker able to transcribe some lyrics, or a chorus to guess the title?

^ They sing very fast I could only understand clearly these two verses:
Un jour je serai un magicien
Je me baladerai en lapin

It begins with:

"Dans ma carriole, je vole, je vole..."

And it sounds more like Jazz-Rock/Fusion than Zeulh... at least to me.

I came for the possible puzzle, stayed for the illustration on the youtube video, and was definitely hooked by the galloping bass line. Thanks! :-)

It certainly sounds Zeuhlish to me, very similar to Eskaton in terms of singing delivery and style, even voices (both a male and female singers, even voice timbres would match). The bass line would perfectly fit for Eskaton. What wouldn't quite fit is the acoustic guitar intro, and the lyrics' quirky, "magical-stoner" tone. I took the time to try and transcribe a bit more than previous answers. Unfortunately, google searching some of the verses that I am certain I heard correctly found nothing useful for identifying the band...

Dans ma carriole, je vole, je vole,
Ca vaut bien mieux que d'aller à l'école
Ca vaut bien mieux que d'aller à l'école
Enlevez le pied de vos portes
Les étoiles veulent entrer
Salut les étoiles
Et la lune aussi veut danser
Il suffit de ??
Ca vaut bien mieux que d'aller à l'école
De savoir qui a pris ??
Je me rassoie, ça m'rassure
Au moins je suis sur, de pas m'embrouiller
Car d'un seul coup, je n'sais pas pourquoi
Je n'vois plus mes pieds
Ca, ça me, ca m'aurait étonné, ça, tiens
Un jour j's'rai un vrai magicien
Je m'baladerai en lapin
Ca vaut bien mieux que d'aller à l'école
De savoir qui a pris ??
Dans ma carriole, je vole, je vole
Ca vaut bien mieux que d'aller à l'école,
Mais je me dis, on jouera a pigeon-vole
??
Essaie donc d'aller plus loin
??
Un jour tu pourras voler
Ca vaut bien mieux que d'aller à l'école,
Moi je préfère chanter dans les écoles
Je me rassoie, ça m'rassure
Au moins je suis sur, de pas m'embrouiller
Car d'un seul coup, je n'sais pas pourquoi
Je n'vois plus mes pieds
Et personne ne pourra changer
Notre envie de décoller

Quick and dirty translation, just to give you an idea:
In my sleigh I fly, I fly
It's much better than going to school (2x)
Remove your foot from the door
Stars want to come in
Hi stars!
And the moon also wants to dance
??
It's much better than going to school
To know who took ??
I sit down, I feel reassured,
At least now I'm certain I won't be confused
For all of a sudden, I don't know why
I don't see my feet anymore
It, it uh, it figures, right
One day I'll be a real magician,
I'll stroll around in a rabbit

Etc etc repeat, and the last two verses:
And no one will change
Our desire to take off

It was fun, thanks! :-)

Big thanks for transcribing the lyrics. :) Checked discogs for tracks with titles like "Je vole" or "Dans ma carriole" etc but no luck.

Checked through all of Eskaton's discography also, but found nothing so far. Seems their members did not have many side-projects or other bands.

Don't waste yout time checking for known Artists, who ever recoreded that track is not on PA
or otherwise known to anybody here.

I'm very much into Zeuhl and have a huge collection in that direction, I don't think even if
the Artist would be named that anyone here have heard about them before.

Found it :)

Thanks everyone, especially projeKct and Skybird for transcribing the lyrics.

Searching discogs for track title "Carriole" and style "Prog Rock" got it.

Wow, nice find! Clap

Sorry for putting you on the wrong track, as there certainly is no connection whatsoever with Eskaton. Smile Also, the connection with prog is tenuous at best: taking a quick listen to some other tracks of the guy (here and here), it sounds more like eclectic French 70's rock, à la Polnareff (there's a two-rebound connection from Beauvarlet to Polnareff, through Serge Koolenn). I only mention Polnareff as his name might be recognizable by the international audience here. (Sidenote, probably more aimed at the French or French-speaking audience here: in some of Serge Koolenn's bands, I found Christian Burguière's name familiar... It turns out he's the father of the members of Les Ogres de Barback!)

To wrap up with Patrick Beauvarlet, on this page we find a small bio in French, that I translated (again quick'n'dirty, and sorry for the ongoing sentence with almost no structure, it is in the original; I could not leave the capitalization of names as it was so I fixed it, but I would not "fix" the sentence structure):

Patrick Beauvarlet is (translator's note: "was" would be more appropriate, as it appears Patrick is deceased) a French singer and drummer, who was the drummer for "Ci-devant" until the group disbanded in 1966, he was one of the first drummer-singers, he then joined musicians like Jacques Mercier or Serge Koolenn (Il était une fois), a first single record in 1970 "Je t'aime" with EMI and he sings a duo with Marie, the track "Julien, Juliette", lyrics and music by Serge Koolenn, Yanko Nilovic at the musical direction (tr: litteral translation of "direction musicale", maybe "arrangements" would be more appropriate), and Richard Bennett.

The following year it is the adaptation of "Jesus Christ superstar" with Michel Delancray, Mya Simile, a track with Neil Diamond and an orchestra conducted by Henri Boutin, then in 1973 it is "Adieu Mélancolie" with the help of Gilbert Sinoué and Jean-Marc Payet composing and conducting the orchestra, we find one of his last record output in 1982 at RCA with "Sans dessus... dessous", that he wrote with G. Rodi.

Congratulations! Big smile

Searching on Discogs was the thing to do. I should have thought of that.

Anyway, it was a fun challenge, thanks!
