A non-prog one: Lynyrd skynyrd - Free Bird
Curiosity killed a cat, Schroedinger only half.

I absolutely love the last few minutes of side-long epic "From Silence to Somewhere" by Wobbler. After the incredible bombast that precedes it, the Epilogue feels entirely necessary to balance out the composition. It's my favourite part, and I look forward to the gentle landing every time I listen to the work. For me, the section is highly emotional!

Epilogue:
Boughs of green, so gently dancing in the wind
Embracing the earth, my death and my birth
By warm winds caressed and enclosed in mirth

Here I lie, at peace in solitude forever
Until I am stirred
From my nest like a bird
And soar into the world once again

Good question. "Jugband Blues" is certainly among them:

"And the sea isn't green
And I love the Queen
And what exactly is a dream?
And what exactly is a joke?"

...and then the music stops...

It's also a rather cheeky way to end an album.

Speaking of Wobbler, one of my favorite outros is the outro of the song Foxlight. It's just a pure prog explosion of sound, complete with kazoos and in your face moogs.

Last 3 minutes are a superb outro...

The last 2 suggestions are great.

ELP - Endless Enigma Pt 2 is also very nice with a bit of classic mini-moog from Keith and tubular bells from Carl. Just works!

I was listening to the first eight Black Sabbath albums recently when I came across this track that I had forgotten about:

The incredible outro of this track is further enhanced by the section that precedes it. Actually, it's tracks like this that remind us of why Black Sabbath are on this site.

And while I'm on the subject of Black Sabbath, I thought I might also include this track for great outro:

As familiar as I am with this track for such a long time, it was actually a PA review that pointed out to me just how extraordinary this outro is.

No, I know how to behave in the restaurant now, I don't tear at the meat with my hands. If I've become a man of the world somehow, that's not necessarily to say I'm a worldly man.

La Maschera Di Cera has some outstanding outros on their albums, especially on S.E.I. and Il Grande Labirinto.

To me, for me the UNfavourite outro in prog is obvious - Gentle Giant's Way Of Life.
Position no. 2 goes to Dancing With The Moonlit Knight.
I consider such endings a waste of space and time.

Favourite Band: Gentle Giant
Favourite Writer: Robert Sheckley
Favourite Horror Writer: Jean Ray
Favourite Computer Game: Tiny Toon - Buster's Hidden Treasure (Sega Mega Drive/Genesis)

oh so many

Musical Box and Entangled by Genesis
Every Day by Steve Hackett
Wings in the Night by COLLAGE
The Way Home by ERIS PLUVIA
Il vessillo del Drago by IL CASTELLO DI ATLANTE
Ashes are Burning (Live) and Song for all Seasons by RENAISSANCE
Illuminations by ELOY
Autumn by STRAWBS
Stationary Traveller by CAMEL (one of those where it's hard to figure out when the outro begins!)
New Horizons by MOODY BLUES

many more but I don't necessarily dissociate the outro from the song in many cases

Spock's Beard has many many superb outros: The Doorway, The Good Don't Last, The Healing Color Of Sounds, Flow, Walking on the Wind, Go The Way You Go.
And of course my favourite end from my favourite SB song: The Great Nothing.

How about some Opeth? Deliverance are Harlequin Forest are of course awesome, but how about Demon of The Fall, All Things Must Pass, Faith In Others and The Drapery Falls.

I love the change that occurs from 4:20 onward:

Jean-Luc Ponty - King Kong
