Is a Genesis reunion in the works? Former guitarist Steve Hackett says it is indeed. Hackett, who was in the band in from 1971 to 1977, has said that overtures are being made about getting the progressive rock group back together at some point: "There's something afoot. There's a move afoot to put us together again. At some point there's a reformation mooted. It's rare that I get a call from Genesis management, very rare these days. So maybe something will happen, you know."

Hackett said the reunion would include original singer Peter Gabriel, drummer-vocalist Phil Collins, guitarist-bassist Mike Rutherford, and keyboardist Tony Banks. Nothing specific has been arranged yet, however.

Genesis shut down in 1998 after the commercial failure of Calling All Stations, the album Rutherford and Banks recorded with a new singer after Collins left the band.

Genesis recently released a three-CD retrospective, Genesis Platinum Collection, and a DVD compilation called Genesis Video Show.

I don't think it was but I saw it somewhere. That would be the best thing
ever. Period.

There are good chances of getting Steve up to WBWC here in Cleveland during his upcoming tour. You can bet that this will be one of the topics of discussion!!

Excuse me,but with what right?...Collins left before Calling All Stations,so it's not like Gabriel comes back and takes his microphone literally...

At least Collins was there quite a while after Gabriel left...

Besides, it might be Ray Wilson who won't leave his "microphone", but apparently he seems to be sacked in this case!

I was commenting on Collins' huge ego, btw! you needn't have taken it serious!

I still wonder how both egos will be reconciled anyway

Collins has stated over and over he loves Peter and his music and the only thing I ever heard him say about a reunion in regards to a conditon.  Is that he hopes it is one form or the other.  Put the classic 5 back together and he will stay behind the kit or put the pop three back togther.  He didn't want to mix them.

I've been hearing about talk of a reunion since early last year...and I think every member (Hackett, Rutherford, Collins and Banks) were all down for it except Gabriel because he said something to the effect of "it's not where I am anymore at this point in my career."

I really hope this is true, but I would be surprised if Gabriel agreed to it. Let's hope I'm wrong.

Enough for me, but it would of course be even better if Gabriel could be convinced.

Of course I would love to see them together again but I wonder if such a show would just see the members 'going through the motions' with an obvious lack of comitment.

I was one of the lucky people who saw those early tours and the thought of silver clad Gabriel starting "as sure as eggs ..." whilst being hoist into the air (alla Drury Lane 73) with shaven head and exposed beer gut would probably sully fantastic memories.
