Even a Blind Dog at St. Dunstans could see that Caravan reigns supreme in the Canterbury Scene, where the one-eyed man is king In the Land of Pink and Grey. If I Could Do It All Over Again I would have bought Caravan's  albums back in the 1970's when they were first released, instead of buying them Back to Front starting with the cunningly titled Cunning Stunts album in 2010. This classic album is Better by Far for me than the overrated Waterloo Lily album, but that's just my opinion. I'm going to take a pregnant pause now to consider how Caravan came up with The Album title, For Girls Who Grow Plump in the Night.Smile

Here's your chance to help determine the Top 7 Caravan albums of all time. Simply list your Top 7 Caravan albums in order of preference and then I'll assign the usual system of points to your listings:-

1st album - 12 points
2nd album - 8 points
3rd album - 6 points
4th album - 4 points
5th album - 3 points
6th album - 2 points
7th album - 1 point

Here's my Top 7 to kick off with:-

1. In the Land of Pink and Grey (12 points)
2. Cunning Stunts (8 points)
3. For Girls Who Grow Plump in the Night (6 points)
4. If I Could Do It All Over Again, I'd Do It All Over You (4 points)
5. Caravan (3 points)
6. Better by Far (2 points)
7. The Battle of Hastings (1 point)

Hi,

My choices are very different ... the one album that I come back to the most of all is "For Girls..." and then "Caravan and the New Sinfonia", in my book one of the best orchestrated albums EVER done.

For Girls Who Grow Plump in the Night
Caravan and the New Sinfonia
Cunning Stunts
Better by Far
Blind Dog at St. Dunstans

The early stuff is nice, and hearing the original "For Richard" is nice, but not as nice as what they did with it later. The later albums I have not gotten as yet, and can't really comment, but listening to their first two albums is ... kind of a trip to the era of pop music in England.

Music is not just for listening ... it is for LIVING ... you got to feel it to know what's it about! Not being told!

The last three Caravan albums are very good too, if you haven't already heard them. Thumbs Up

That's okay. I would have struggled to choose seven albums too, until I listened to all of Caravan's albums last weekend. If I Could Do It All Over Again though, I would have listened to all of Caravan's albums years ago. Smile
