Keeping just to what is in the PA database, and removing any albums which feature in your poll, what’s left on my iPod from 2008 (in alphabetical order) is: (NB it’s perhaps not the most reliable or accurate of methods, but what’s on my iPod from years past are likely to be my favourites from that year, simply because I can fit everything in there. Also, it’s assuming all the years are correctly entered in the metadata.) Afenginn Amaseffer Anathema Anima Mundi Il Bacio della Medusa Cast Causa Sui Combination Head Dark Suns D.F.A. The obvious choice of Steven Wilson for me. His first 3 albums are all masterpieces imo.

I'm surprised 'Watershed' has just 2 votes so far. It's one of the really exciting Opeth albums.

Blomljud, it's just so beautiful....
But, where is The Tall Ships by It Bites? Fabulous album from a band who hadn't released one in nearly 20 years. Would be a struggle to pick between these 2.... |
