Miles Smiles all the way. Arguably where he started getting a bit more fusion-y and experimental.

Four of those albums are in the realm of genius (though not prog) - Pet Sounds, Blonde on Blonde, Face to Face and Revolver (and if you included Bookends you have five) - and you can argue about the others.

There are so many great albums there, but eventually I’ve decided my vote goes for Sounds of Silence. As per my post about top pre-teen musical influences, S&G were easily one of the greatest. This second album of theirs is just amazing, and possibly my favourite of theirs.

Can't decide between Revolver and Pet Sounds, especially as they were part of a sequence where Brian Wilson and Lennon/McCartney were driving each other to new heights with each offering until Smile fell apart at the seams.

This is hard. PSR&T was the first album I ever bought, but over the centuries I've probably listened to Revolver the most of these.

Zappa.
Although I like so many of these albums. 'Sloop John B' alone nearly made me choose Pet Sounds.

Revolver, easy.
Is Roger the Engineer related to the legendary Roger the Cabin Boy from Captain Pugwash?

All good albums but Revolver is in class of it's own. Take that Catcher10.
