This poll is about as hard as it gets, so I'm sitting on the fence!
I got into IQ before Marillion, but it was the Menel era and I didn't get The Wake until probably early 2000s. I got into Marillion after Fish, and didn't get Misplaced Childhood until ....the early 2000s! Yes, an idiot, I know. Both are brooding masterpieces, from bands in their early days but finding their strides. I would have been 14 when they came out, so probably a bit too young to have appreciated them anyway.... I feel like I might have put this poll up on here a while ago, but it's always a good one!

In The Wake of listening to all of their albums recently, it has to be IQ.

but you do not know the other album, so your choice makes no sense right now.

Both -
Each are too good to choose, and each fit different moods.

Two excellent albums in my kingdom! But The Wake has a couple of cheesy moments and I think that Marillion's songwriting overall is better/more solid. Back in 1985 I preferred The Wake over Tales From the Lush Attic, but that's the other way around now. Still love the album, despite some weaknesses (including the production) but Misplaced Childhood - which is not my favourite Marillion album - is top notch!

It makes perfect sense to me, but I may have voted for Marillion instead in A Momentary Lapse of Reason.

That IQ album is one of the best of the UK scene in the early/mid 80s along with Twelfth Night's 'Fact and Fiction'

maybe it means you should give the album the fair chance that it deserves.

I can't cope with Misplaced Childhood these days. I don't even really know what that means..I just don't like the sound of it, and although the self pity.
I also prefer the relative rawness of The Wake, so IQ get the vote. |

Misplaced Childhood is maybe the best Marillion did with Fish so my vote goes there obviously. I love IQ though.

he did vote, how am I not let him vote how he wants.?! Just that his vote made no sense to me. So let's recap. There are two albums in the poll, he only knows one, hasn't heard the other one, but goes and votes for the album he knows. I would never do that. He also did it intentionally to spite me. So there you go...
