A is one of my favorite Tull albums actually but not sure i need the 40th anniversary issue. Is it worth it?

I do have a few other 40th anniversary issues like Aqualung and although the extra bonus material is OK it's not something i have listened to more than once.

In my opinion all these Tull deluxe issues worth owning. Multichannel mixes, lots of rarities, live records, informative books - perfect editions.

By the way all of them printed in limited quantity, once you missed them, pretty soon they become quite expensive ($100 and more).

I'm not as familiar with the supplemental material as on the other Wilson mixed deluxe boxsets so I'm really looking forward to this one. That I like "A" album a lot certainly helps.

A is a strange one - the classic Tull sound transformed into the '80s with only Ian and Martin still hanging around.....though not a great fan of the LP, this reissue is interesting for the video of the 1980 LA show and the old Slipstream video that we all used to have on VHS.
I like to feel the suspense when you're certain you know I am there.....

As far as I know, it's the only JT album with Jobson's violin on board, and that is added value, to say the least...

Alas, Eddie only fiddles on two songs, but they are both good.

And is he featured in the live tracks, or only on the original studio album?

The entire "A" line up toured for the album: Anderson, Jobson, Barre, Dave Pegg and Mark Craney.

"A" was initially intended by Anderson as a solo album, but the label insisted in the use of the JT trademark.

Nice. I don't know that album, but it might be interesting to hear what that line-up did with the classics from the 70's.

Like most of the 40th anniversay editions, the audio only DVDs are useless and only add to the price, making them not worth the price charged

True, if you don't have surround system. Otherwise these DVDs are probably the best feature of the 40th anniversary editions. Smile
Multichannel mixes give excellent listening experience, you can clearly hear lots of sounds and even instruments lost in stereo mixes.
