And finally, the most recent decade. Both bands fairly quiet, at least on the studio album front:
IQ released The Road Of Bones and Resistance Marillion released Sounds That Can't Be Made and F.E.A.R. This is a closer call that the previous decade. Following on from Frequency, IQ went through a couple more line-up changes, welcoming back Tim Esau as bassist after a 20-year stint from John Jowitt, and Mark Durant on keys. The Road Of Bones is one of their finest albums, and although Resistance, for me personally, was a bit of a letdown, it's still a very good album. Marillion (still with the same line-up from 1989 onwards) came back to form with STCBM and FEAR, but it's IQ again for me....

IQ, solely on the back of The Road of Bones, which is one of the very finest prog albums. But I'm not keen on Resistance at all.
FEAR and Sounds That Can't be Made are good, but they're not The Road of Bones or even near it.

Thanks for all your votes in the 4 polls I set up to compare IQ and Marillion across the 4 decades that they have been releasing music. They kind of went how I expected, although the results were somewhat more one-sided than I thought they might be!
To summarise, as of today: 1980s: IQ 6 v 32 Marillion 1990s: IQ 24 v 15 Marillion 2000s: IQ 28.5 v 2.5 Marillion 2010s: IQ 21.5 v 5.5 Marillion
