Let's see if we can get this old short-lived thread revived a bit, as I've been getting into this band lately. A bit surprising in hindsight that Curved Air's first albums were quite commercially successful in the UK in the early 70s, given their unusual, even rather weird sound. Though this success did not last, Curved Air has at least the merit of being among the first successful progressive rock acts. I've listened mainly to their 4 first albums and a few songs after these, and the Phantasmagoria LP is my favorite by far. At this point, my top 10 in rough order of preference are:

Marie-Antoinette
Melinda
Metamorphosis
Phantasmagoria
Not Quite the Same
Young Mother
It Happened Today
Jumbo
Everdance
Vivaldi tied with The Dance of Love

probably because they received a lot pf hype plus Back Street Luv was a surprise hit and got a lot of radio airplay.

They should be... Hardly anything I don't love on their three, maybe four first albums so this is quite difficult. I'm mainly enchanted by the groups often eerie and sort of ghostly moods and don't really care about "how prog" or complex etc...

Young Mother
Piece Of Mind
Screw
Easy
Phantasmagoria
Blind Man
Over And Above
Jumbo
Puppets
Back Street Luv

edit: Damn I forgot Melinda (More of Less)... but I refuse to remove any of the songs, so I need a top eleven. If I get fifteen I'll include their Renaissance-song (Metamorphosis), It Happened Today, Everdance & Elfin Boy

It Happened Today that I came across your list for the first time, and although it's Not Quite the Same as my list, it is pretty close. Smile

Hi,

VIVALDI ... with CANONS.

I like a lot of the Sonja material, but I miss the combination of Darryl and Francis. Later the story says that they did not get along well, but they sure did some far out stuff. I think they also had an album together which was not radio friendly at all, but was nice.
Music is not just for listening ... it is for LIVING ... you got to feel it to know what's it about! Not being told!

Metamorphosis is not only my fave song by them by far, but IMO one of the greatest songs of the prog era.  I also love "Melinda More or Less", and can't say I love anything else by them, though I do like the following 7 in no particular order.

Back Street Luv
It Happened Today
Marie Antoinette
Armin
Vivaldi
Over and Above
Everdance
You Know
