Percy Jones wrote this on Facebook:

To all Brand X Fans
Together John and I were the legacy of Brand X. We traveled through lots of musical spaces over the years, steering our troubled band through the twists and turns of the music business and it's trolls.
I want to thank all our fans for supporting us throughout our creative dreams.
As the last torch bearer of the soul of Brand X I will do my best to honour John and the spirit of our band.
Percy.

RIP, Johnny!  Photo taken at Chicago Park West, 25 September 1979.  He got a kick out of this one!

Oh no, this is really sad... I was gonna see him in May of 2020 until Covid put a stop to that, and now I never will... I wish all the best to his friends and family.

Got to see Brand X and meet him briefly in '99. Hell of a guitarist.

Saint Peter's (sadly) ever growing house band just got an excellent new member. R.I.P.

That's sad.  I did see him in 78 with Brand X supporting Genesis at Knebworth - at Phil's behest.

In addition to Brand X, I enjoyed his stint with Tunnels on Progressivity.

Very sad news, and we've lost a real force of nature. Was lucky enough to see a trimmed-down three piece Brand X open for Hackett at Redondo Beach in '92. Talk about a dream line-up.

Hi,

Of all the bands in 1999's SF Progressive Music Festival, this one was (for me) one of the saddest thing of all ... the band was fine, and I think that John tried really hard to make things work, but I don't think that the band with him was as good or helped him stand up better.

It felt like something was missing, and I know it was not John.
Music is not just for listening ... it is for LIVING ... you got to feel it to know what's it about! Not being told!
