Janos Kobor, the lead singer of Omega, the legendary prog rock band form Hungary has died. He was 78.
He founded Omega in 1962 and has been active with the band ever since.
Within a year keyboardist Laszlo Benko, bass player Tamas Mihaly and now Janos Kobor left us.
Unfortunately, this is the end of this fantastic band who gave us Girl With Pearls In Her Hair and other classics.
Rest In Peace Janos.Cry

Irreparable loss. Cry Kind of a personal tragedy to me.

National hero in Hungary, the voice of Hungarian rock, belowed rock frontman of rock fans in many countries, nice and friendly person if you were lucky to have a chat with him. Unforgettable for several generations.

Who are you and who am I to say we know the reason why... (D. Gilmour)

Only learned of this a few days ago--a sad loss.

I have such a fond memory of being in Budapest, going into a great record store, and asking the clerk for any recommendations in Hungarian prog. Came out with a healthy stack.

Omega certainly stand out as one of the icons of central European psych and prog. A treasure.

The damage that we do just goes on and on and on but not long enough.
