Very close call between Area & GonG (with Anglagard, Marillion, Blackwater Park & Hackett not too far behind)

I don't get how a band, which is basically a heavy metal row, gets two entries here.  I saw them in 2010 because I was told 'they were prog' - were they heck!

I do like Prog Metal, but unfortunately, the finer points of Opeth have always been lost on me, I'm afraid. My Bro-In-Law was an Opeth fanatic and did try his best, even with the clean vocals album... but it wasn't for me.

What a very tough poll. I love almost all of them. After some hesitation I decided to choose Script For A Jester's Tear of Marillion do to its great importance for prog in those times.

Area. There are a few good albums here but as a full set of ten I'd have chosen any of the other bunches over this one.

those two Opeth albums are very popular and are beloved by progressive metal listers/fans. That's why there are in the Top 100.

From this list, the album that I'd be most excited to hear in this moment (which, then, constitutes my "favorite") would be Space Shanty. But, I love and respect several of the albums in this set.

Marillion.  This is another batch of 10 that doesn't really get me too excited. Hackett, Focus and Anglagard are all really good but I could live without the rest.
