I wanted to post this poll in proto/prog-related section, but for whatever reason I can't start a poll there?
Anyways, Primus have all through their career played a lot of covers, culminating in their ongoing tour where they play the entirety of Rush' A Farewell to Kings album. Songs listed in this poll are covers that they've recorded. First five are from Miscellaneous Debris EP, following six from Rhinoplasty EP and the last one is a bonus track on some editions of Frizzle Fry album. Did I miss any? Let me know. Let us know which one is your favourite, discuss, etc, you know what to do. As for my own vote, I'll have to give it some thought. Also post live videos of Primus covering other songs if you like. They're great fun! |

Included as a CD-ROM enhancement on Rhinoplasty is a claymation video of "Devil Went Down to Georgia".

Ah, good call. I forgot about this excellent song and video. Btw, should anybody wonder, I left The Chocolate Factory out on purpose.

Gently bumping this thread.
It's old news, but Primus did a tour last year where they covered Rush' Farewell to Kings album in its entirety. Your thoughts on this? Did anyone go and see them?

I went. Thought it was great. I am going to see Les Claypool's Fearless Frog Brigade tonight and they will be covering Pink Floyd's Animals in its entirety.

^^ I did not go or know about it. A friend of mine who was huge on Rush introduced me to Primus back in the 90s.
As for my pick, I'm voting for the cover of Resident's "Sinister Exaggerator". Edited by Logan - June 06 2023 at 15:07 |

Rush toured with Primus in the 90s and they've been friends since. A fitting combination.
Primus have sometimes started their shows with YYZ intro and going into one of their own songs, but it seems they've also played the whole thing: |
