There's just no end to the 1978 gems. Although UK acts such as Gentle Giant, Yes, ELP etc were releasing some of their weakest albums..., there's plenty of wonderful progressive music to discover from the rest of planet earth.

-I just felt all these deserved a mention too (many of them personal favorites), which is why I "stole" Cristi's concept and made a third, additional part to his two 1978-polls

X over Manna and Weidorje
Dig me...But don't...Bury me

Of the three albums I know, my vote goes to JMJ's Equinoxe.

The Residents - Duck Stab / Buster & Glen, a demented masterpiece with their biggest hits.

Bubu - Anabelas

I forgot about this one when I made my poll.

I would probably have voted for one of the five first options in the poll. They've sort of been with me most of my grown life. But I think every album here is great

Out of all these, I have to go with The Kick Inside. Such a fantastic debut Smile
Take me down, to the underground
Won't you take me down, to the underground
Why oh why, there is no light

I vote for The Residents - Not Available slightly ahead of The Residents - Duck Stab / Buster & Glen, followed by Peter Hammill - The Future Now.

No, I know how to behave in the restaurant now, I don't tear at the meat with my hands. If I've become a man of the world somehow, that's not necessarily to say I'm a worldly man.

Yep. A demented masterpiece full of demented nursery rhymes (nursery rhymes always are, really). I find it extremely catchy and packed with memorable hooks as well. An album I know in and out, and can sing along to every single track.

It's indeed remarkable how much good stuff there still is after Cristi's lists. I vote for National Health but I love the Art Bears, Kate Bush, Bubu, Cos albums as well and there are further good ones.

I think so too. These ten additional 1978 releases are really good as well. Mostly left out because I ran out of poll options (and their relative obscurity)

Ossian - Ossian
Caedmon - Caedmon
Adelbert von Deyen - Sternzeit
Ocarinah - Première vision de l'étrange
Het Pandorra Ensemble - III
Pan-Ra - Music From Atlantis
Rainbow Generator - Dance of the Spheres
Giger Lenz Marron - Where The Hammer Hangs
Wolfgang Riechmann - Wunderbar
Spacecraft - Paradoxe

National Health is the only one I've heard, but it deserves another vote.

National Health > Schulze, Weidorje, Muffin, Art Bears, Jarre, Bubu

Wonderful selection of albums

The best thing about making a poll with nothing but favorites, is that I'm so pleased with everyone's choice - no matter what album you choose. National Health, Kitaro, Klaus Schulze, The Residents, Kate Bush, Bubu, Jean Michel Jarre and M.I.A has gotten well deserved votes so far (& Peter Hammill, Weidorje, Muffin, Art Bears, Popol Vuh, Cos + Clivage a mention).

I went with Bubu. National Health and Weidorje not far behind.
