I have been listening a bit to some of the new live albums from Yes, with Jon Davidson. Since they have actually been playing their whole classic albums, do you think they would have gained the same status if it was the new versions of the songs, as played by the latest line-ups, the ones that had come out back in the 70's?

Possibly. I don't dislike the new lives, but I can't be sure.

No. They are old now and can't play with the same verve that they did when they were young. Listening to current Yes play the classics live is often a depressing experience.
Dig me...But don't...Bury me
I'm running still, I shall until, one day, I hope that I'll arrive
Warning: Listening to jazz excessively can cause a laxative effect.

They seemed to have fun playing together, like three friends.
Possibly they did it to piss off Steve Howe.

This. Understandably given Howe's age now, they tend to play everything slower (e.g. the first section of CTTE).

I sort of agree with no too, and I guess that's the answer I was expecting... but perhaps I could have expected for a bit more variaty of opinions
