Borrowing an idea from Kingsnake, October 2, 2017:
http://www.progarchives.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=112035

I am curious to see if there are any prog albums that you used to LOVE
("played to death" is usually the associated term we use)
but now can't stand (you just can't pull yourself together enough to listen to anymore--i.e. you now find cringe-worthy)?

You can list them if you have more than one.

For me: Tales of Topographic Oceans and ABACAB come to mind immediately.

I'm not sure if it exactly matches your criteria, but Dark Side Of The Moon comes to mind. I can't enjoy "Any Colour You Like" because all the recordings of it that I hear nowadays doesn't match how I remember it from the original vinyl recording I had long ago.

No, I know how to behave in the restaurant now, I don't tear at the meat with my hands. If I've become a man of the world somehow, that's not necessarily to say I'm a worldly man.

Warning: Listening to jazz excessively can cause a laxative effect.

I cannot find any on my list. Some, I don't play that often anymore, like Led Zeppelin II, but not that I don't like them. I still love all my music.

There's a lot of stuff I used to listen to quite a lot, which I just don't any more and in fact, might not again, but that doesn't mean to say I can't stand it. It's still good but hasn't retained my interest, such as Arcturus, Zero Hour, Deadsoul Tribe, Communic, SUE and so on...

I can't think of anything I've gotten into once, that I now can't stand... Ermm

I love Tool now, as much as I ever did.I don’t listen to them as much, but that’s simply because there is so much to listen to, and I tend to be listening to music released in what we year it is, over music from years gone by.

I pretty much played Eloy to death in my youth, and most Tangerine Dream albums, and I couldn't listen to much of this (except the odd masterpiece here and there) for 20+ years, but after all this time I'm now again more positive on them, if somewhat more picky than I was at age 17.

While I'm writing I'm listening to A Momentary Leapse Of Reason. Does it mean anything?

It means that you probably prefer Gilmour to Waters... LOL

Seems if I enjoyed something once, it will always stay that way.

Ok, Nine Inch Nails and most of that whole industrial 1990's scene feels really dated (still love Ministry Psalm 69 though). But I've only got a handful of such issues altogether. I used to think Living Color was pretty awesome, but upon relistening their funky metal thing feel so much like a child of the era it was made. Still enjoy a few of their songs though. After being a moderate Pearl Jam-fan, it suddenly got difficult for me to listen to Eddie Vedder's voice without getting annoyed. And that was the end of the whole band. Same goes for Björk - to an extent. But she's still more interesting. I grew tired of Tool and didn't listen to them for about fifteen years or so, but now I quite appreciate them again.

The same is true for "In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida" (the track). This track and "Any Colour You Like" are both tracks that I love but are now ruined by a remastering or whatever of the CD version.

For me, it's the usual suspects. CTTE, DSotM. ItCotCK, TLLDoB, WYWH, etc. Not hated, just played out.

Perhaps "played out" is what I should have gone for in the OP. I don't actually "hate" ToTO or ABACAB, I just have no desire to listen to them (when I have, recently, for contributions to polls or threads here on PA, I really had to overcome some adversity in order to force myself to listen to them).

I think Rollon Duché de Normandie said it best: everything I've ever loved, I still pretty much love.

Funny, this, K W: I love both of these songs more than I did when I first heard them! Way more!

Nice distinction, G man. I'm inclined to come over to your side; "hate" was perhaps too strong of a word choice.

The last time I listened to the Lamb Lies Down on Broadway (and to a lesser extent SEBTP) I didn't enjoy it that much probably because I've just heard it so many times. Certain albums by Yes, King Crimson, Gentle Giant, Rush and ELP might qualify too.
