This is one of those rare occasions when I have all of the albums in a poll. Big smile

Paranoid was the first Black Sabbath album I got, after hearing Iron Man. This wasn't my first exposure to Black Sabbath. That would be Tomorrow's Dream and Changes (from Vol 4). But when I heard Iron Man, I knew I had to have the album. But even though Iron Man was a life-changing track, I think I prefer War Pigs. Paranoid was certainly a life-changing album.

Emerson, Lake & Palmer was the third Emerson, Lake & Palmer album I got, after Brain Salad Surgery and Works Vol I. I got the debut album around the time I was starting to get into prog proper. Tank was familiar to me from Works Vol I, but I preferred the version on Works Vol I. Some of the other tracks I liked a lot, but other tracks were not really to my taste at the time. Nevertheless, it was a significant part of my changing tastes toward progressive rock. But there were other artists that were part of this change, so Emerson, Lake & Palmer were not quite as life-changing as Black Sabbath.

ELP is pretty good, but Paranoid is very good.

Paranoid is something I've experienced a lot. I'm an old rocker and played that one a lot back in the day. Having said that the debut from ELP is easily my favourite from them so it wasn't that easy of a choice.
