Thank you all . I've started to listen, and enjoy more than i thought! belive me or not, but i REALY didnt know that there are groups that dont ALWAYS play distorted guitars ! I dont object distorted guitar from time to time, but to hear only distortion all the time is a little bit annoyin for me.

the distorted guitars that you recommand are not-so-noisy also, and they are interesting.

well i think from time to time it is good to look for new direction in music, one can be surprised !

Clap

I was joking by the way, and I think the Odyssey is a HORRID, HORRID album to introduce to a regular Prog head, they would probably ABSOLUTELY HATE RUSSELL ALLEN'S VOCALS on the majority of the songs  I would not recommend any album with growls, screams or "growl-like" singing on them.

I think a good first Symphony X album would be The Divine Wings of Tragedy.

Why do you dislike Russell Allen so much,Flossy?

I think the Odyssey has a lot of great elements- the GREAT epic, shorter songs, heavy riffs, good keys- GREAT STUFF!

I hate the sound of his voice when he growls and absolutely love it when he isn't. I just think The Odyssey is by far one of the heaviest Prog Metal albums there are. Train Of Thought IMO is lighter than the Odyssey. To recommend The Odyssey to a Prog Metal newbie is just dumb.

A good album for me would be Dream Theater- Images and Words (Not all that heavy and very very structured and technical)

He say that it's a horrid album TO INTRODUCE TO A PROG FAN. I actually agree ... as a matter of fact all SyX albums are not ideal as an introduction to prog metal, unless one is already acquainted with metal and/or neoclassical stuff.

Well, I personally like the Images and Words Suggestion- but then I hear SO many people say they can't stand you-know-who's-voice (haha Im listening to DT right now)

But yeah- if you like him- then I&W is perfect- thats where I started with Prog-Metal
