I know three "cliffhanger songs" ... songs which consist of two or more parts and span several albums:
Do you know other examples? |

SAGA's "chapters" ICE AGE : "to say goodbye parts I & II" on 'The great divide ' and "part II" on 'Liberation' RUSH : the different parts of "fear" for example "witch hunt" (on 'moving pictures') is part III and "the weapon" (on 'signals') is part II |

Not prog, but Metallica have "The Unforgiven" and "The Unforgiven II" (or something like that).

I've always felt "Heart of the Sunrise" by Yes was a cliff hanger just by the way it ends. No matter how many times I hear that song, the ending still gives me that impression.

Yes and no. The main sequence began with "The Glass Prison", but "The Mirror" contains some of the same themes lyrically (and I think musically), and can be regarded as a prologue. I can understand why Mike included "The Mirror" here, but I don't think it fits the criteria for being a "cliffhanger song". |

The German band Octopus did the two parts of “The Delayable Rise of
Glib”: Part 1 on their debut The Boat Of Thoughts and Part 2 on
An Ocean of Rocks.

Of course they're not real "cliffhangers" ... they're too different musically. Consider it a "honorary mention" ... |

The Mirror is not a cliffhanger song!! The only thing it has in common with the Glass Prison Trylogy is that its heavy... but the main problem is that the lyrics don't go along |

Actually, the lyrics do fit. "The Mirror" deals with the same topic as the other three, and I do think that some the lyrics from "The Mirror" are reused. Another "cliffhanger" - Arena had "Crying For Help" parts I-IV on "Songs from the Lion's Cage", and parts V-VIII on "Pride". They were later put together on one album. |

Well, it depends on HOW YOU interpretate the lyrics... And Mike Portnoy never said anything bout the Mirror being another song linked 2 the Glass Prison... |

Ed, read this: http://www.dtfaq.com/category/22#1052 It says that The Glass Prison is the first song of a series of songs about the anonymous alcoholics program. However, the songs contain elements of The Mirror, and The Mirror is about the same subject. So in effect The Mirror is some kind of "subconscious overture" to that series of songs. |

I think Dancing With The Moonlith Knight is the continue on Supper's Ready (since at the end of SR's lyrics, it says: "TO BE CONTINUED"). Another "cliffhanger"? |
