I only ask because I have no idea who will win. Both albums have their devoted advocates as well as their offended detractors. Neither band was the same after these albums.

I'm not a big fan of The Wall but it wins this one easily.

The Wall...and it's not even vaguely close.
...a vigorous circular motion hitherto unknown to the people of this area, but destined
to take the place of the mud shark in your mythology...

Very unusual comparison though, but it's pretty known who's gonna win given this site's demographics...

Pink Floyd wins easily here, whereas Queensryche comes up against The Wall of indifference with me. Confused

Isn't it just? I wonder how many voters have both albums in their collection? I'd imagine many voting for 'The Wall' just don't enjoy Prog Metal full stop. In reality, this is 'Ryche's finest moment whereas The Wall is certainly nowhere near as good as what went before.

I once stumbled over Operation Mindcrime quite cheap, so I used to own it years ago. I don't hate it, but I don't love it either. I never thought of it as prog metal. It sounded like regular, melodic 80's heavy metal to me. Well performed, but Judas Priest and a lot of plain metal is well performed. ...and Justice For All felt a lot more challenging and progressive really. I know OM is a concept album, but so is Lee Hazlewood's Trouble is a Lonesome Town and Frank Sinatra's Watertown.

Well, i think it's an example of early progressive metal, bands like Queensryche, Fates Warning, Savatage, even Metallica were influential on what would come a bit later. So I don't think it's a mistake to call Queensryche progressive metal. Also not a mistake to call them heavy metal or US power metal. Smile

BTW, a poll Metallica's AJFA vs Queensryche's O:M would be interesting, a tough choice poll definitely (at least for me). Big smile

I have both albums and I like both albums. Where's the "both" button? I want a "both" option. No both, no vote! Both. Approve Tongue

I have both. Was much into Queensryche at the time of its release. I like both but neither as much as I once did. A coin flip vote from me. I voted Mindcrime.
