Oh my god! I just found out that Dream Theater performed all of Dark Side of the Moon in Amsterdam on Oct. 11, 2005! They used Theresa Thomason (the female vocalist from SFAM) to do all the female vocals in Great Gig and the such. If anyone has a bootleg of this performance please let me know! I'd love to see this!

Strangers passing in the street by chance two separate glances meet and I am you and what I see is me. And do I take you by the hand and lead you through the land and help me understand the best I can

I hope they recorded it ... frankly, I'm getting a little bit frustrated hearing about DT playing The Number of the Beast, Master of Puppets and now Dark Side of the Moon ... I've been to three of their shows and they never even played ONE cover song. The least they can do is to record and publish those shows so that the general public also get's to hear them. |

I didn't mean to say that you're too young to know what you're saying. The problem is: DSotM is a very controversial album. But there are enough people who think that it's a masterpiece. Many of these people are VERY experienced in prog. You are 16 years old ... I am 30 years old. Others are 20 years older than me, 34 years older than you. They were teenagers when that album was released. They have unique insights in the prog scene that you (or I) will never have. Many of them have witnessed Pink Floyd concerts (when the members of Pink Floyd were as young as current prog bands members are today). Therefore it's foolish to say "DSotM is a bad album" ... you're not an authority, you don't decide that. The community here wrote many reviews of the album, and the result says: masterpiece. |

Only reason I bought DSOTM on CD was because I read somebody thought the remastered version would be good to check out and compare hifi when a shop had listening room, because of audio depth and stereo separation. He was right. Personally I find the album, because of overplay by friends and the radio, has been done to death - so I too find it boring and there's a phenomenal amount of other music to get excited about. And boy do I wish I was 16 again - knowing what I know |

I was once at a meeting with Mike Portnoy and when the tea and coffee were served he took 3 chocolate digestives, although there were only enough for each person present to have 1 each. I got stuck with a couple of stale Garibaldis thanks to that twin bass drum punishing biccie snatcher. And if that isn't enough, James LaBrie is always 'borrowing' post it notes from my desk - even though his desk is nearer to the stationery cupboard! And I'm sure it was him who jammed up my stapler. And as for that John Petrucci - whenever there's a box of chocolates going round he always starts on the second layer before the first layer is finished, he claims his doctor has told him to cut out caffeine so he can't have coffee creams and he's got a nut allergy so he can't have hazelnut whirls either. So if I feel a little negative towards Dream Theater, it's only because I've experienced some major negativity issues coming from those guys myself. |
