I already did one in Prog polls for in PA albums, and I have covered tracks off these albums in other topics of mine.

A rather arbitrary list of albums, and one might well prefer some others by these artists such as Dummy by Portishead or Moon Safari by Air, but I feel that these lesser-known and lesser-rated albums in this list are also excellent.

Please vote for three (or more or less if you wish to). And feel free to vote with very limited familiarity.

Sufjan Stevens - The Age of Adz (2010)
Boards of Canada - Music Has the Right to Children (1998)
Joy Division - Closer (1980)
Stereolab - Dots and Loops (1997)
Fishmans - Long Season (1996)
Portishead - Third (2008)
Weyes Blood - And in the Darkness, Hearts Aglow (2022)
PJ Harvey - White Chalk (2007)
Cocteau Twins - Treasure (1984)
Broadcast - The Noise Made by People (2000)
Juana Molina - Segundo (2000)
Julia Holter - Aviary (2017)
Air - 10 000 Hz Legend (2001)
Vanishing Twin - The Age of Immunology (2019)
Lingua Ignota - Caligula (2019)
Siouxsie and The Banshees - Juju (1981)
Bruno Pernadas - Those Who Throw Objects at the Crocodiles Will Be Asked to Retrieve Them (2016)
otay:onii - Míng Míng (2021)
Niechęć - Niechęć (2015)
Xiu Xiu - Plays the Music of Twin Peaks (2016)
Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds - Your Funeral My Trial (1986)
Melody's Echo Chamber - Melody's Echo Chamber (2012)
Komeda - Pop pa Svenska (1993)
Beach House - Bloom (2012)
Joanna Newsom - Ys (2006)

You know I'm a big fan of that Broadcast album, outstanding. Boards of Canada come second, and then I vote for Joy Divison but Fishmans, Vanishing Twin, Lingua Ignota, Siouxsie could also have snatched the third vote. Of Sufjan Stevens I'd pick almost all or even all of his albums over this one (and it's still OK but not quite up there).

^ That Stevens album is one that I had a yen for at the time. I like its uniqueness, based on what I have listened to, in his discography. Right now I would have chosen Illinois, at another time Carrie & Lowell. It's often not about being a favourite, really, just scratching a seeming timely itch depending on mood. I enjoy all of the Sufjan Stevens albums that I have heard, but if asked what is his greatest album, I would say Illinois.

There are many albums that I've - at least partly - heard and that I like. Some that I really like and have heard more than once (e.g. Boards of Canada, Stereolab, Portishead, PJ Harvey, Cocteau Twins, Broadcast, Air, Niechęć, Joanna Newsom...).
If I had to single out three albums today, it would be these three:
- Juana Molina - Segundo
- Julia Holter - Aviary
- Vanishing Twin - The Age of Immunology

Edit: Oh well, since it is a "more or less" thing, I'll add a vote for Air. I do indeed prefer Moon Safari, but 10 000 Hz Legend is a great album too. And now I have four in a row!
