Despite my love for much modern music, these are all "classics". These are all from the Eclectic Prog category at PA. I used to be on the Eclectic team, and choosing just five is rather like choosing the fingers on just one of my hands to keep (okay, I'm right handed, so I go with those four fingers and thumb). It does make it a challenge when you keep the numbers so low.

These are 14 of my favourites, and then I will pair down to five.

Bubu - El viaje de Anabelas
Gentle Giant - The Moon Is Down
Gnidrolog - Long Live Man Dead
Haikara - Manala
Peter Hammill - A Louse Is Not a Home
Island - Pictures
King Crimson - Lizard
Kultivator - Barndomens Stigar
Bjorn J:Son Lindh - Musik från en storstad
The Penguin Cafe Orchestra - Numbers 1-4
Plat du Jour - Zilbra
Jean-Paul Prat - Masal
Van der Graaf Generator - A Plague of Lighthouse Keepers
Jean-Claude Vannier - Les gardes volent au secours du roi

Tough, I'll go with these five today...

Bubu - El viaje de Anabelas
Peter Hammill - A Louse Is Not a Home
Bjorn J:Son Lindh - Musik från en storstad
The Penguin Cafe Orchestra - Numbers 1-4
Jean-Claude Vannier - Les gardes volent au secours du roi

Really VdGG should be in there, but I'm using A Louse as the Hammill representative.

^ EDIT: Wow, I only know Marsupilami (great stuff) from Paul's list. Guess my knowledge of Eclectic Prog needs some work.

I managed to listen to a whole Cardiacs album the other day (very proud of myself lol) so with that in mind
Cardiacs - Fiery Gun Hand **
Also listening to King Crimson as a result of Scot's recent top ten KC songs video on his yt channel 'The Prog Corner'. I would go with Easy Money perhaps or Cirkus. A toss up between those.
After that some Gentle Giant . Hearing Pantagruels Nativity a lot recently. Love that even if GG are a problematic band for me.
How about some Peter Gabriel- Here Comes the Flood. Achingly beautiful and seems to have greater resonance nowadays with climate change.
Maybe finish with Steve Hackett - Star Of Sirius.

** yep I know they are in Rio/Avant but I believe they are a perfect Eclectic band so I'm going with my definition!

Music has always been a matter of energy to me. On some nights I believe that a car with the needle on empty can run 50 more miles if you have the right music very loud on the radio. Hunter S Thompson

I also once served on the Eclectic Team back in the day.  Something I find fascinating is that in all my time here, I only ever rated one album from this category five stars.  It truly was a mixed bag for me.

Top five?  I'll go with these:

King Crimson - "The Court of the Crimson King"
Van der Graaf Generator - "Refugees"
The Tangent - "In Earnest"
Gentle Giant - "Playing the Game"
Van der Graaf Generator - "House With No Door"
