Circe Link, along with Christian Nesmith (son of Monkee Michael Nesmith) has quite a following of youtubers who eat up their tasteful and varied covers. These are overwhelmingly simple acoustic jaunts brought to new life by Nesmith's arrangements and acoustic guitar along with Circe Link's unique but lovely vocals. They had released a few albums of original material, mostly of an indie-pop flavor, which I've also enjoyed even if that's not a favored genre for me. Among their popular covers were two songs by Yes, so I know they had some appreciation for prog, but even those numbers were stripped down and simplified. So imagine my surprise when they started doing totally legit prog from the more intricate end of the prog spectrum! Adding to the surprise is that it's not the prog-folk one would expect an acoustic based indie-pop outfit to migrate to, but rather serious symphonic prog! The new album, Arcana, just released this month, should solidify their inclusion on this site. Edited by Fischman - September 12 2024 at 22:35 |

It's rather good, and I don't even like a lot of modern Symph. Will there be a physical disc ?

Sounds good, I'm sure Michael would have been proud. The Monkees were kind of artsy now and again, definitely an under rated group due to their dubious beginnings.
Micky's still around and still singing, but I guess having him do some harmonies would seem like a gimmick. |

^Great vocals! All in all quite a lovely mini epic. -it was the Mike Nesmith namedrop that made me click on this topic - so Fischman's false advertisment really worked:)

Sorry about the name slip!
I'm actually old enough to have grown up with the Monkees, so have some mercy! Anyway, header has been corrected (not sure how I screwed up the header when I had it right in the body of the post). |

If you love the "Arcana" album, you'll be blown away by their 2021 "Cosmologica." Pure symphonic prog at its best. It's got it all; blistering guitar runs, spectacular keyboard solos, heavenly harmonies, and all the tropes that make Symphonic Rock what it is.
