The legendary progressive rock band Mirthrandir has announced their reformation and the schedule for their first live appearances since 1977. The band will perform material from their classic “For You The Old Women” as well as several works that have never been heard live. Audiences at next springs BajaProg and ROSeFest will be among the first to see and hear one of the shining examples of American symphonic progressive rock of the 1970’s.

Mirthrandir’s music was influenced by the major bands of the day and reflects the styles of Gentle Giant, King Crimson, Yes and Genesis, yet the six piece band soon developed their own paradigm and set off in a different direction. Mirthrandir’s two guitarists developed a unique contrapuntal style unlike that of any progressive act and it was not unusual for the group to spend several weeks perfecting one minute of music. The impossibly dense and complex works created by  Mirthrandir plainly reflected the band members’ unusual vision and dedication to their craft.

Mirthrandir will feature four of the six original band members; vocalist and trumpeter John Vislocky III, bassist and flautist James Miller, drummer Robert Arace and keyboardist Simon Gannett, as well as new members John E. Callahan III and Alan Benjamin on the twin guitars.

Mirthrandir will perform next year at the 10th annual BajaProg festival staged at Mexicali, Mexico, March 8th, through the 11th and at the Rites Of Spring festival (ROSfest) in Phoenixville, Penn., April 29th through May 1st

Additional dates and details will be announced when available.  Mirthrandir’s album “For You The Old Women” on Syn-Phonic Records is available now at www.synphonic.8m.com. Visit www.mirthrandir.com for more information.
