When I say sky songs I don't mean the band, I mean what songs are there that include "sky" in their title and (or) which in some way evoke the sky for you? For me there's nothing more powerful and fascinating to look at than the sky, and one of the few pleasures of living in Britain is that it constantly changes. For some people its the sea but for me there's nothing like looking up on a clear night when there's a moon out, or during the day when storm clouds are gathering; or on a bright August day when there's clear blue sky and an ocassional cloud blown by the breeze. (Am I getting sentimental or is this wine better than I thought?)
I can think of 3 tracks that evoke the power and simplicity of the sky: Porcupine Tree - The Sky Moves Sideways; King Crimson - The Sheltering Sky; and Yes - South Side of the Sky (the piano part really works for me)
- and in case you think this is similar to a thread earlier today about Night songs, yes that got me thinking!....
Any other suggestions?
