I received 2 Adagio CDs from Amazon: Underworld and Sanctus Ignis.
Yay..I love it.. sounds almost exactly like Symphony X, but much and much moodier. Stephan Forte is no doubt a guitar god. Plus the piano works is so nice.

Yes, they're amazing. One of the "secret" prog metal gems ... try Heaven's Cry as well ... they're equally amazing, yet totally different.

Yeah- one of the best prog metal acts that no one talks about. Can't wait for a new album!

I downloaded Next Profundis here along with some other progmetal, to check out the genre. I didn't know any other bands besides Dream Theater until I found out in PA earlier this year (coming from a more symphonic background myself).

Adagio came out on top, along with Pain Of Salvation. Adagio being the more Dream Theater like, but I think Adagio do a better job in bringing over emotions in their playing. The piano work on Next Profundis is really great!

I started not to like Dream Theater. Adagio and Symphony X are my choice over DT. I really like Adagio's mood. I am glad I bought both of them.

This is a true-symphonic-progrock band in my opinion. You cannot ignore it.

Adagio is about the most symphonic progmetal I've heard yet. Maybe that's why it's on top of my progmetal-wanted-list. Yet, there are also enough elements in their music that justify calling it progmetal.

I'm still plowing through my progmetal "judgment" collection in alpahebetic order so I haven't come to Symphony X yet, but I'll keep your statement in mind.

You are doing it in alphabetical order? Yay.. it will take quiet sometime to reach Symphony X. My suggestion.... just stick with A [for Adagio] - the perfect modern progrock.
