One of the only non-prog bands I like. Are there any similar ones?

They learned nearly everything they know from SLY & THE FAMILY STONE
and FUNKADELIC, so if you don't have those bands' albums already, they
should be top of your list.

I'd say that Jamiriquai are pretty blatant in their homages to Stevie Wonder- once you've heard albums like 'Songs In The Key Of Life' and 'Innervisions', Jamiriquai will honestly seem like total clones...

There were other 'acid jazz' bands around at the time Jamiroquai which were similar in approach, notably Mother Earth, The Brand New Heavies and Galliano, but as others have said here, that seen was heavily derivative of what had gone before...

Like Neo prog...some would cautiously argue..  but not me. I wouldn't dare..

I would also reccomend 'Innervisions' by Stevie Wonder which is a masterpiece!, also 'There's a riot goin' on' by Sly & the Family Stone.

Ultimately bored by endless ecstasy!

JK is Tower Of Power meets Stevie Wonder - even one of his musicians said this to me!! So you are strongly recommended to buy the Best of Tower Of Power (Warners) as well, as a starter to the band's extensive catalogue.
