His two first solo albums were mostly bad... I hope this one will be better!

More info:
Found here: http://www.fmqb.com/article.asp?id=154408

Pink Floyd singer/guitarist David Gilmour will embark on a rare solo tour on March 10 in Dortmund, Germany. The trek will be in support of his upcoming solo album, On An Island, due March 6 via Columbia Records. So far Gilmour only has European dates booked, but he is expected to visit this side of the pond in April. According to Billboard.com, Gilmour's new album is packed with guest appearances from David Crosby and Graham Nash, Pink Floyd keyboardist Rick Wright, Roxy Music's Phil Manzanera and Jools Holland.

(Don't ask me what I was doing on this website...mainstream hell!!!!)

I liked his self titled a lot, About Face wasn't as good though.

His first one was great, IMO. Haven't heard About Face in quite a while.

Is this recording one you could have heard snippets, when Three Men in A Boat (Griff Rhys Jones, etal, shown by the Beeb over Christmas ) invaded Gilmour's house boat on the Thames near Hampton????

I have one last christmas CD voucher left and along comes Dave Gilmour - the toes are tingling - my air guitar is down out of the loft.

It gets even better on his website www.davidgilmour.com you can watch the new single video.

I now have to go and shop because on the 6th of March i plan to become a recluse so I can soak up such a genius (the first 2 albums were not good - lock that man up in an aslyum)

I have just listened for the fist time to the new Gilmour CD "On an Island".

It seems to be a good album, most of the songs are melodic and slow, some of them remind me about More and Obscured by Clouds. There are several instrumental numbers, one of them featuring Gilmour on saxophone (he does it quite good!).  The highlight is "On an Island", a ,melodic tune  with gorgeous vocals and trademark electric guitar solos by David.

I recommend it to you all, but don't expect a Pink Floyd Album. This is clearly a solo effort, but it's a pleasure to hear once more that excellent voice and guitar.
