Had the opportunity to see "Musical Box" re-create Genesis' "The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway" this past Thursday - what a disapointment.

The show was plagued by sound problems throughout, at one poing having to shut down for nearly 1/2 hour to attend to these technical difficulties.  It's too bad - the musicians obviously had the chops to pull it off, but sound issues ruined what should have been a great evening.

Has anybody else attended a "Musical Box" performance? Is this typical, or was it just an unfortunate occurance? I'd love to see these guys again, but I wonder if it's worth it.

JS

I have seen Musical Box perform all three of their shows: Foxtrot, Selling England and The Lamb (saw The Lamb twice).  Every show was an amazing gem.  No problems, technical or otherwise.  You definitely caught them on a bad night.  Please don't judge them on that.

Peace.

Hi

I just saw the Musical Box play in Toronto at Massey Hall on December 3rd.  This is my second time seeing them and they put on great show.  I highly recommend seeing them if you want to see the Gabriel era of Genesis.  What I found neat about the show is how the singer has Gabriel's between songs talking perfecting down.  It's like I'm listening to an old Genesis bootleg.

One thing that did surprise me about this show was how few costumes there were in the show. Really its just Rael's costume (most of the show), Slipperman (10 minutes) and that swirling cocoon thing. My impressions from reading about the original shows were Gabriel was dressing in extraordinary costumes and was not able to sing very well for most of the show according to the band.  However, with the exception of the Slipperyman costume, I really didn't see this as an issue.  Anway, just some of my thoughts.

Have a great weekend.

Mockwa.

I saw them covering "The Lamb" here in Rio de Janeiro, last October... amazing!!! The encore was with 'Watcher of the skies' and 'The musical box'.

The tour they made in Brazil through 5 cities received 4-5 stars from Brazilian prog-fans

I've seen them twice. First in Villingen-Schwenningen on their "Selling England" show, which blew me away and second time in Stuttgart, Germany, as they played "The Lamb" and it was amazing! There weren't any sound problems, but I was sitting on the tribune, so I failed to recognize all details from the show.
