Er, the idea was for others to make their own compilations, or just
comment on mine, or just say anything you want about John Lennon.

I cannot believe it is 25 years since I awoke to hear the news of John Lennon's death.
The irony was, at the time he had got himself back together, and seemed happy and content. I wonder what he would be like now if he was a 65 year old man, still alive today.

Hi chopper, yes I was reminded of his death this morning and it is hard
to believe it was really 25 years ago today. I haven't got my act
together enough to come up with a list of what I think was his best
work, but from your list I especially like "Tomorrow Never Knows",
"You've Got to Hide Your Love Away", and of course "Strawberry Fields".
My own personal favourite is perhaps "A Day in the Life" (though I know
Paul wrote the middle section). He is still sadly missed after all
these years. It is hard to imagine what he would be doing now, but
personally I think most of his best work - and Mccartney's - was done
with the Beatles.
As Easy Livin' says, it was especially sad as he had it seemed to have just got himself back together.
R.I.P.

My day will be filled with music by The Beatles and John...
- Strawberry Fields Forever
- Working Class Hero
- In My Life
- Nowhere Man
- You've Got to Hide Your Love Away
- I'm Only Sleeping
- God
- Being For the Benefit of Mr. Kite
- Help
- I Am the Walrus
A (kind of) best-of-list that contains songs not only from his days with the band but some gems from the solo years as well. So much great music left out, of course -and there is a lot I haven't yet even heard...!
A life cut way too short, but while he was among us he managed to touch -and still does to this day- millions of hearts.
R.I.P John. Sadly the war is still not over but life will go on...across the universe

Tribute compilation? Screw that, I'm listening to everything from Rubber Soul to Let It Be... Naked today (the original Let It Be being an unforgivable crime by Phil Spector).

I'm so sad...

I can strangle a canary in a tin can and it would be really original, but that wouldn't save it from sounding like utter sh*t. -Stone Beard

You forgot A Day In The Life. How could you?
Oh, and does nobody care for poor ol' Dimebag?
...You forgot Come Together. He got sued for that! (Mind you that, even
though it was a Lennon/McCartney song, only John Lennon got to appear
in court).
John Lennon's death was a sad, sad thing to happen. Atleast we still got his music.

I was looking for this thread and almost started another one....
I was at home doing homework when the anouncement first came through that he had been shot, then about an hour later, he had died......
RIP John
The music that you left behind is beyond priceless......

No need to shout!
I didn't forget Come Together - I just didn't include it as it's not
one of my favourites. You're right - he nicked the first couple of
lines from Chuck Berry and had to record the song on "Rock'n'Roll" as
part of the settlement.
And I couldn't forget "A day in the life". I left it out because of the
McCartney bit in the middle. On reflection, I should have included it.
Who is ol' Dimebag?

Well, I couldn't include them all!
I'm so tired is a great one, especially the line about Sir Walter Raleigh!

I like also some Lennon's protest-songs of the 70s like: I don't wanna be a soldier, John Sinclair, Sunday bloody Sunday, Power to the people.
