I love this band, but I definitely prefer Children and God's Own Medicine and even the First Chapter ...

in fact there are two songs on Masque (from One Jesus To Another and Who Will Love Me Tomorrow) that are better IMO than anything on Carved In Sand (which I still quite like ... Deliverance, Amelia, Butterfly On A Wheel and Grapes Of Wrath are the highlights I recall)

"Death to Utopia! Death to faith! Death to love! Death to hope?" thunders the 20th century. "Surrender, you pathetic dreamer.”

"No" replies the unhumbled optimist "You are only the present."

Goth nonsense

Ok, they aren't that bad. I must have liked them once as I remember going to see them twice on the 'Children' tour. I used to like a lot of 'goth' music, but I was more into 'Sisters of Mercy' Wayne Husseys old band. I also liked The Fields of the Nephilim. They were the most 'prog' of the goth bands..

I agree with Trotsky. The first three albums were their best. I think they stopped being 'fun' when they went into their 'lets try and be Led Zep' phase.

Ultimately bored by endless ecstasy!
