Just yesterday I was listening to Jeff Beck's "Who Else" record, a really scorching rocker, full of high energy, with fantastic guitar work that one would expect from Beck, when all of a sudden, the song "Angel" started up. It sounds like a hauntingly, beautiful piece of Prog with spacy guitar, and I began to wonder, "How many other great "PROG" songs are out there, lost in the catalog of non-prog artists?". Maybe I should ask my PROG peers. How about it, "PROG" songs by non-PROG artists.....
Where wast thou when I laid the foundations of the earth? declare if thou hast understanding?

It´s easy man:

1. "Space Oddity" by David Bowie (Double nice ´tron played by Mr. Wakeman)

2. "Shine a Light" by Spiritualized

3. "Bedlamb" by Levitation

4. "End of the Universe" and "Birdman" by Ride

5. "Alexander the Great" by Iron Maiden (In fact these spandex-boys play some Nektar covers)

I always thought that early Budgie has some "Prog Moments".

Anyway, our beloved Beatles were more LSD than Proggy on "A day in the Life"

Cheers!!!

A lot of beatles- Magical mystery tour( the whole album) Happiness is a warm gun, Sgt. Peppers( almost the whole ablum) and a lot on Abbey road.

Queen- Bohemian Rhapsody

Bowie- space oddity

im sure theres a sh*t load more, but i can't think of many others off the top of my head.

I can strangle a canary in a tin can and it would be really original, but that wouldn't save it from sounding like utter sh*t.

Iron Maiden (several ones, but let's say) - Rime of the Ancient Mariner
Deep Purple - Child In Time

Although they are very far from being progressive, early Simple Minds albums had some progressive moments (for example: "Sons and Fascination ft Sister's Feeling Call", "Life in a day","Real to Real Cacophony" or "The Empire Building"). The touch began to fade with the "New Gold Dream" album and it totally dissapeared with "Once upon a time"
