Yes I remember Potter with Arthur Lowe. He was a vicar if i recall. He and John Barron were a great pairing. It was repeated on UK Gold in the 90s in an afternoon slot.

Father Ted and The League Of Gentlemen are my favourites.

I think John Barron was the vicar Richard. Lowe was the retired owner of Potter's Mints if I remember correctly.

One bit I thought was excellent was when the two of them were sitting on a bench chatting. The vicar's wife came struggling round the corner with a heavy wheelbarrow full of garden weeds. "No no no" says Barron, "you shouldn't be pushing a heavy wheelbarrow like that". His wife stops and gratefully puts the barrow down. "Now" he says "Pick it up and remember to bend your knees!"

Allo Allo is also cool. I'm finally getting to see this for the first time here in the States. The best humor is clearly from Britain with Canada coming in a close second. Just my opinion.

Fawlty Towers, but mr. Bean comes close. Any other Atkinson comedy is good, Blackadder especially.

The Office is very good too. One of the few new series that are very good.

I used to watch Dad's Army, 'Allo 'Allo, Are You Being Served and that one in India, or no, it was Birma I suppose, with Rangi Ram and "The Boys Are Here To Entertain You" (what was that being called again?), a lot. (Are from the same producer / writers? The same kind of humour, not a very high level, but very entertaining.)

And the Young Ones (good one Velvetclown) and Monty Python and Ab-so-lute-ly Fabulous Daaarling

Cosy middle class TV? No doubt. But To The Manor Born is not the worst from it, IMHO. Good script and Penelope was acting fabulous (absolutely ~).
